Maths and Science Week

During the week of 22nd to 26th May we held a maths and science week in school. There were lots of fun maths and science activities being carried out in our classes. We also had events where parents were invited into school for lessons and competitions.
Miss Moore, one of the science teachers from Parkside came into school to teach a science lesson to every KS2 class. We had great fun with lots of practical experiments.


Win a Wii
We held a maths investigation knock-out challenge. Teams of one parent and their child competed against each other to solve maths investigations. The  last team standing won a Nintendo Wii.
The winners were
KS1 – Ewan Lintern
KS2 – Liam Woolley and Kieran March
The money to buy the prizes was donated by the local council


Mental Maths Mastermind
The CMT organised a mental maths competition for KS1 and KS2. Four children from each year group were chosen to compete against each other to answer mental maths questions. The winners were
Year 3 – Josh Spencer
Year 4 – Michael Hirst
Year 6 – Liam Woolley, Chloe Hartness and Eleanor Butcher


Science Fayre
During the week the children produced a piece of work to display at the science fayre. In KS2 this was a poster, a model or a practical experiment. In KS1 the class will worked together to produce a display. Parents were invited into school to visit the fayre with their children. The competition was judged by Councillor Tomlinson who also presented the prizes in assembly. The winners were
