We are into our final mini topic of the year and for this one we are delving deep into the ocean. This week we have been following the story of 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley'. In this book, the sea animals believe they have found a jellyfish. The 'jellyfish' is constantly being eaten by other animals such as a whale and a seagull. Eventually it ends up around a turtle. Luckily, a young boy realises that this is no ordinary jellyfish.. it's a plastic bag! With this story, our children have been creating their own plastic bag kites as well as exploring the effects of litter and pollution on our oceans. The children have been mesmerised by this subject and we have been so impressed with their positive attitudes towards it. We have then used our knowledge of sea animals to inspire our movements as we created a little dance to the song 'under the sea'.

Never too far from our minds, we had a lovely visit from some people who help us. Two PCSO's came into school to visit us this week, they were called Hannah and Shannon. Hannah and Shannon brought a drone into school with them too. They talked to use about what they do and how they help our community. They also taught us about the drone and how this helps them in their job. Following this, we were treated to a drone display on the school field. We loved it. We loved watching how high the drone could fly and even how fast it could go! The children asked excellent questions.

We have had a wonderful week in Reception, filled with so many lovely memories and lots of joy. We are looking forward to experiencing more happy memories during our final few weeks.
