All about me and Transition

This week we have started discussing transition for our older children who are moving on to their new schools in September. We are going to make an all about me booklet for the children to take to their new schools. Our first job was to discuss who lives in our house and to draw a family picture. Some of the children's drawings are amazing and it is lovely to see how much progress they have made with their fine motor skills and drawings. We have copied them so they will be bringing home the original for you to see. They have also enjoyed talking about their lovely families!

We have also been building our fine motor skills up by practising our pencil control and cutting skills.

This week's sound of the week is I. We have recapped our previous sounds s,a,t,p and now learnt all about I. We have also been exploring patterns within numbers 0-3 and seeing if the children can subitise objects without counting and talk about what they can see.

We have also enjoyed doing lots of singing/rhymes and action songs this week using the song box.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Jaxon Comby as he did a great job at drawing his family picture and though carefully about which colours he needed to use to represent the different features of his family members. Oliver Russ as he represented the number three by showing three fingers. He was then able to show me three in a different way by drawing three circles and three lines. Oliver also has a great understanding of the whole number and its parts. AJ Griffiths as he has really impressed us this week by finding his name card. Every morning, he comes in and will now find it independently. Kai McManus as he was a superstar when we sang “There was ten in the bed”. Kai recognised when there was only “two” left in the bed. He also represented two by showing me two fingers. Theo Henry as he is becoming more confident in nursery and is now trying to join in at group time instead of just observing. Finally, Grayson Hicks-Henry as he has really impressed me this week with his threading. He was able to thread all the beads on all by himself making it super long. Well done to you all, what superstars!
